Internet Banking Security

Internet Banking Security

Most companies who trade on the internet use security systems such as unique passwords, access codes, user IDs and encryption.

With AIB Jersey & Isle of Man Internet Banking, there are numerous measures in place to make sure your financial details are secure. In addition, there are certain steps you can take to make sure your financial transactions remain confidential.

Security safeguards when using any internet banking service

Keep your security codes secret: do not write them down or leave copies near your computer. Always change your customer security codes immediately if you suspect that someone else has gained access to them.

If you log on to internet banking from a computer in a public place such as at a cyber cafe, in college or at work, be aware of the possibility that another person may be watching you log on and noting your access details. It is strongly recommended that you avoid using any public internet PC for internet banking as these may be infected with viruses and spyware that may monitor your internet activity and log your keystrokes.

Never leave your computer unattended when you have logged on to internet banking even if it's only for a few seconds. With AIB Jersey & Isle of Man Internet Banking, if you accidentally leave your account open on screen, and if there is no activity for five minutes, the service will automatically time out.

If you are suddenly disconnected while you are logged on, always connect again as soon as you can, even if you have finished your banking transactions. Then log out following the usual exit procedures, ensuring the connection has dropped before leaving your computer.

Always log out using the exit button and wait by your computer for verification.

It is recommended that you install anti-virus, ant-spyware and other security software and regularly update them to protect your computer from viruses. It is also recommended that you regularly apply security updates to your operating system and applications.
