Who can apply for the service?

The account mandate must authorise the Bank to accept instructions from any one party to the account, and should not have any third party signing or Power of Attorney in place.

How long will it be before I can use Internet Banking

Once we have received your completed, signed application form and your online registration for Internet Banking along with the necessary confirmation of identity we will then issue an account number and registration number, followed by a Personal Access Code (PAC). When you have confirmed receipt of these we can then activate your account for access via the internet.

Is the service secure?

Yes the system has been extensively tested. A secure session is indicated by a padlock symbol at the bottom of your screen.

Do not divulge your passwords or passcodes to anyone and do not write them down in an easily identifiable place or in a way in which they would be recognised easily by others. It is recommended that you install anti-spyware, anti-virus and other internet security software on your PC, use it regularly and keep it updated.

How much does it cost to use Internet Banking?

There is no sign up fee for the use of this service. AIB Jersey & Isle of Man Internet Banking transactions will be charged at a reduced rate to non-internet transactions. Please refer to our Fees and Charges page for further information.

Why are internet charges different from ordinary bank charges?

Because you are playing a larger part in managing your accounts by using the internet, there is less need for payments to be processed manually by staff in the bank. As a result of this charges for transactions carried out via the internet are less than for non-internet transactions.

How long will my Internet Banking payment transactions take to clear?

This would depend on where the payment is going to, in which currency and the method you have chosen for it to be sent. A payment in GBP sent via BACS to the UK takes 3 working days. A payment in GBP sent via CHAPS usually reaches the beneficiary account the same day. A payment in any currency sent internationally via SWIFT may be credited to the beneficiary account within 3 working days of the payment being sent by us.If the transfer is not being made to a head office of a bank you should allow further time for cleared funds to be credited to the beneficiary account. Please also note that all timescales depend on the internal processing times of any banks in the payment chain and that any resulting delays are outside the control of AIB Jersey & Isle of Man.

For transfers, if both accounts are in the same currency, or only involve sterling, US dollars or euro, a transfer via internet Banking before 15.00 UK local time will normally be processed the same day and the funds will be available in your account after the Internet Banking system is updated at 18.00 UK local time. Transactions input after this time or on a day that is not a working day will not normally be processed and available until the next working day. For transfers involving foreign exchange transactions in other currencies, allow two additional working days for the transaction to be processed and the funds to become available in your account.

Can I transfer funds internally between my own AIB Jersey & Isle of Man accounts?

Transfers can only be carried out between your own accounts with the same 5 digit account number. If the 5 digit account number is different, you must use the Payment function. You can transfer funds between your own accounts with the same 5 digit account number even if the accounts are in different currencies. There is no maximum daily limit on the amount of funds you can transfer between your own accounts in the same currency. If the accounts are in different currencies, you can transfer up to a maximum daily limit of GBP 10,000 or foreign currency equivalent. Transferring between your own AIB Jersey & Isle of Man accounts, regardless of currency, is an internal transaction and does not go via our correspondent banks.

How long do Foreign Exchange Payments to third parties take over the Internet?

If the foreign exchange transaction only involves sterling, euro or US dollars, a payment instruction input by you before 15.00 UK local time will normally be sent the same day.  Instructions input after this time, or on a day that is not a working day, will not normally be sent until the next working day. For foreign exchange payments in other currencies, two additional working days will be required for processing by us before the payment is sent.
